- VAR Grade is COPYRIGHTED (C) 1991 by Dennis Revie.
- All rights are reserved.
-
- VAR Grade can be distributed as SHAREWARE. It is not free.
-
- Anyone distributing VAR Grade for any kind of remuneration
- must first contact us at the address below for authorization.
- This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
- recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
- shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
- VAR Grade immediately (However we must still be advised so that
- the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of
- VAR Grade.).
-
- Vendors distributing VAR Grade must distribute the entire
- version of the program. This file, Vendor.DOC, is not part of
- the version, and is meant for vendors, only. You should delete
- it before distributing the program. VAR Grade is usually
- distributed on two 360K disks. You can, however, distribute
- it on any size disk or on bulletin boards. For bulletin boards,
- I suggest that you distribute it as GRADE0.ZIP, GRADE1.ZIP, and
- GRADE2.ZIP. GRADE0 would be an archive of the unarchived files
- on disk 1.
- VAR Grade can also be distributed in LHARC format. INSTALL.EXE,
- which installs VAR Grade, will work with either LHARC or PKUNZIP.
- Version 4.5 of VAR Grade was distributed in LHARC format. To
- convert it to LHARC, you need to extract the files in the zip
- files, and convert them to LZH files. You also need to delete
- PKUNZIP.EXE and substitute LHARC.EXE. For BBS distribution, the
- unarchived files on drive A can be made into a self-extracting
- file called GRADE0.EXE by using the script below. Note that
- Readme.46 assumes that zip formats are being used. To convert
- it to LHARC format, change ZIP to LZH, and PKUNZIP to LHARC in
- the description of disks 1 and 2.
- The program files are listed below, as well as in the Readme.46
- and Grade.Man files. Readme.46 gives a short description of the
- program. Should you need further details, Grade.Man is the manual
- in ASCII format. It is already paginated and can be printed, as
- is, to a printer. It can also be read by any word processor and
- while inside VAR Grade itself (Grade.EXE).
-
- Short Program Description
-
- VAR Grade is a full-featured program for recording, plotting,
- and analyzing scores on assignments and attendance. You can
- have any number of students, assignments, sections, or classes.
- VAR Grade can handle number, letter, and extra credit. It
- can automatically sum, average, discard, and weight scores.
- The program is extremely flexible, allowing you to do your
- grades just about any way you want.
-
- Longer Program Description
-
- This program has been written to be flexible enough to allow
- you to grade your class with the same methods you now use--except
- that the program does the tedious chores of adding, plotting, and
- writing the scores. The program has been written by and for
- teachers. It can be used for both grades and attendance. You
- may grade with either letter or number grades, and you can mix
- and match letter and number grades. The points of any assignment
- or score can be changed at any time. Many different types of
- pre-defined assignments, including ones that are the sums,
- averages, and weights of other tasks, can be used. Any task or
- combination of tasks can be plotted, correlated, and analyzed
- statistically. Attendance for your classes can also be recorded.
- Individual student scores can be printed or scores for each
- section of the class can be printed an unlimited number of
- ways. Student can be sorted, data can be imported from other
- programs, and you can define your own grading system. You can
- even control page length, margins, and type size when printing
- the data. The program can handle 16000 students, 2000
- assignments, 250 sections, 240 days of attendance, and an
- unlimited number of classes.
